How do I report a crime to the police?

Listed below are the main ways to report a crime to the police.

Emergencies (if crime is happening now or if anyone is in immediate danger)

  • Call 999


Non-emergency

  • Contact the police on 101 (available 24hrs/day)
  • Contact 101 to speak to local Safer Neighborhood Teams
  • Visit a police station- find your local station here

 

Online reporting

 

Third party reporting centres.
Third party reporting centres are organisations in the community who can assist people to report incidents and help them get support. Speak to Victim Support to find out about third party reporting centres available where you live. Call them on 0808 1689 111, or if you live in Southwark, Greenwich or Bexley, call 020 7277 1433.

Crimestoppers
If you do not want to talk to the police or fill in the reporting forms, you can still report a crime via Crimestoppers either online or by calling 0800 555111. You do not have to give your name and what you say is confidential. It is free to call.
