What should I do in an emergency situation?

At LSBU, we take the safety of our students very seriously. We believe that all students have the right to be safe (both on and off campus), and to get help and support when they need it.

Campus security

LSBU’s security team aims to work with students, staff and visitors to ensure a safe and secure learning environment. In addition to the security team, our Reception team provides a welcoming front of house function, helpful general information to visitors and a professional first point of contact at the University.

What to do in an emergency

  • On Campus - If you see or suspect fire, serious injury, or if you are the victim of a crime incident, please call the university's emergency number: 020 7815 6666. You can also alert security on the SafeZone app -  Download the app here
  • Off Campus - If you are off campus, please call the emergency services on 999. For non emergency police support call 101. For non emergency health support call 111. Locate your nearest Accident & Emergency here.

Report and support
Our Report and Support site offers a first point of contact for students to let us know about incidents and access support in relation to sexual misconduct and harassment. The site provides information and signposting to organisations who can offer specialist assistance, while our Student Liaison Officers can provide guidance on what to do next if you, or someone you know, has experienced sexual misconduct or harassment.

For more information, including how to make a more formal complaint via our Student Disciplinary Procedure, please see the FAQ How do I make a report of a student’s unacceptable behaviour or conduct?

Need to talk to someone?
If for any reason something doesn’t feel right, you want to share a concern or need access to support, then the LSBU Student Mental Health and Wellbeing team are here for you during your studies.

They provide a safe and supportive space to talk through how you're doing, what's going well, any challenges you are dealing with and what could help you manage these challenges. They offer a confidential service to students, unless, in exceptional circumstances, it is deemed there is a danger to yourself or to others, or if there is a legal duty to report.

Appointments are available for you to book across our campus’s during office hours. Please see What does the LSBU Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Team do? and How do I book an appointment with the Mental Health and Wellbeing team?

If you are currently having thoughts of harming yourself or ending your life, please know you are not alone and support is available. This FAQ has more info: I have had thoughts of suicide or self-harm. How can I get help?
